Category: Xylan OmniSwitch
Description: Manages Xylan OmniSwitch extended IP features including policy routing and traffic prioritization.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is XYLAN-XIP-MIB?
XYLAN-XIP-MIB is a legacy Xylan Corporation (later Alcatel, built on XYLAN-BASE-MIB) proprietary MIB reporting GMAP/XMAP (Group/eXtended Multicast Address Protocol) state — Xylan's proprietary multicast-group-mapping mechanism. Its objects cover GMAP state, gap/update/hold time, last-trap reason/port/MAC/protocol/group, a GMAP table (MAC address, protocol, group, source switch, flags, timeout), and XMAP state, discovery/common time, last-trap reason/port, and a per-port table. As a status/configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm multicast-group mapping state and review the last GMAP/XMAP trap on a legacy Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch. It is deployed on legacy Xylan Corporation (Alcatel) OmniSwitch equipment (GMAP/XMAP multicast mapping). Engineers can download the XYLAN-XIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYLAN-XIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Legacy Xylan Corporation (Alcatel) OmniSwitch equipment (GMAP/XMAP multicast mapping)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks xylanXIPGMAPLastTrapReason and xylanXIPGMAPTable to review the last multicast-group-mapping event on a legacy Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch.
What Can Be Monitored
- GMAP/XMAP multicast-group mapping state and trap history
