Description: Xedia dial-in client group MIB defining address assignment pools, PPP echo intervals, and client type policies for grouped remote-access users on Xedia devices

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is XEDIA-CLIENT-GROUP-MIB?

XEDIA-CLIENT-GROUP-MIB is a vendor MIB for Xedia (later part of Lucent) dial-in and remote-access networking equipment, defining Dial-in Client Groups used to manage pools of remote-access users. It exposes configuration data covering address-assignment method, address pool, client type, PPP keepalive interval, and the provisioning/row status of each client group. Its monitoring value is chiefly over software/configuration status -- the row status and address-pool assignment reveal whether a client group is correctly provisioned and active, which affects whether dial-in/remote users can obtain addresses and stay connected. It builds on standard SNMPv2 conventions such as RowStatus and reflects PPP concepts, without depending on another named vendor MIB. It is typically deployed on Xedia remote-access concentrators and routers used by ISPs or enterprises to aggregate dial-in or broadband remote-access clients, with the XEDIA-CLIENT-GROUP-MIB MIB providing the SNMP visibility into those client groups.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEDIA-CLIENT-GROUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Xedia (Lucent) remote-access/dial-in concentrators and routers

Monitoring Examples

clientGroupTable/clientGroupEntry rows, indexed by clientGroupIdentifier, expose clientGroupAddressAssign and clientGroupAddressPool to show how IP addresses are handed out to a client group, and clientGroupPppEchoInterval to show the configured PPP keepalive timing. An administrator polling clientGroupStatus would confirm the group's row is active, and a stuck 'notReady' or 'notInService' status would reveal a provisioning problem preventing that group's remote users from connecting. Checking clientGroupPppEchoInterval against expectation would also reveal a misconfigured keepalive that could cause premature session drops.

What Can Be Monitored

  • client group address pool assignment
  • PPP echo/keepalive interval
  • client group row/provisioning status
  • client type classification
