Description: IPO-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IPO-MIB?

IPO-MIB is a vendor-specific Avaya MIB that defines the root OID tree and generic event/trap objects for the Avaya IP Office family of telephone switches (small/medium business IP PBX systems). It belongs to the unified communications/VoIP telephony system management category. It exposes generic event-notification objects covering severity, timestamp, source entity, and application-specific event/entity identifiers, alongside loopback status bits for diagnostic purposes. Its monitoring value centers on software/system status of the IP Office switch - surfacing generic alarms and event severities from its telephony applications, the host address of the reporting device, and loopback/diagnostic status, which together indicate faults in call processing or trunk/line hardware. It functions primarily as the umbrella OID registration point under which other, more specific Avaya IP Office MIBs are organized, and is deployed on Avaya IP Office telephone switch systems in small-to-medium business voice/PBX deployments. Engineers can download the IPO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IPO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Avaya IP Office telephone switch/PBX

Monitoring Examples

An administrator can poll or trap-receive on ipoGTEventSeverity together with ipoGTEventEntity and ipoGTEventEntityName to identify which subsystem raised an event and how severe it is, using ipoGTEventDateTime to correlate timing with other logs. ipoGTEventHostAddress identifies which IP Office unit reported the event, and ipoGTEventLoopbackStatus/ipoGTEventLoopbackStatusBits would reveal a trunk or line loopback test failure, indicating a telephony hardware/line fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • generic event severity
  • event timestamp
  • event source entity/application
  • reporting device host address
  • loopback/diagnostic status
