Description: Xedia cron batch-job scheduler MIB controlling the administrative and operational state of the scheduled-task mechanism in Xedia routers
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is XEDIA-CRON-MIB?
The XEDIA-CRON-MIB is a proprietary Xedia Corporation MIB for the 'Cron' batch-job scheduler mechanism built into Xedia routers, which runs scheduled administrative tasks on the device. It exposes the scheduler's administrative and operational state, a configurable scheduling interval, logging controls, and a table of individually scheduled batch jobs with identifiers and scheduling fields such as month. Its monitoring value is chiefly software/service status: confirming the cron mechanism is administratively enabled and operationally running, verifying when the last, current, and next scheduled runs occurred, and reviewing entries in the batch job table to confirm scheduled tasks are firing as expected. It has no apparent dependency on other standard MIBs, being a fully proprietary Xedia mechanism. It would be deployed on Xedia routers where administrators rely on scheduled batch jobs for periodic configuration or maintenance tasks tracked through the XEDIA-CRON-MIB MIB.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEDIA-CRON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Xedia router
- Xedia access device
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll xcronAdmin and xcronOper to confirm the scheduler is enabled and actually running, then compare xcronDateTimeScheduleNext against xcronDateTimeScheduleLast to verify scheduled jobs are firing on time. Entries in xcronBatchTable/xcronBatchEntry, indexed by xcronBatchID and including fields like xcronBatchMonth, describe individual scheduled jobs; a job whose last-run time falls unexpectedly far in the past would indicate the scheduler stalled or a job failed to execute. xcronLoggingAdmin and xcronLogClear let an operator manage and reset the scheduler's log for troubleshooting.
What Can Be Monitored
- cron scheduler admin/operational state
- last/current/next scheduled run time
- scheduled batch job entries
- scheduler logging status

RFC description
Manages batch job scheduler (Cron) configuration and operational status for executing periodic tasks on Xedia routers.
