Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks WAN Interfaces

Description: Manages Wellfleet X.25 PAD (Packet Assembler/Disassembler) parameters and asynchronous terminal sessions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Wellfleet-X25PAD-MIB?

This is a Wellfleet (later Bay Networks/Nortel) private enterprise MIB for X.25 PAD (Packet Assembler/Disassembler) functionality on Wellfleet routers, which terminates asynchronous character-mode terminal sessions and packages them into X.25 packet streams. It exposes configuration and status objects for PAD profile parameters (X.3 parameter sets), asynchronous port/session bindings, and the X.25 virtual-circuit association for each PAD session. Its monitoring value lies in session/service status — tracking active PAD sessions and their state gives visibility into whether legacy async terminal-to-X.25 connectivity is functioning, the service-status analog for this legacy WAN feature. It depends on the underlying Wellfleet X.25 MIB for the packet-layer virtual circuits that each PAD session rides on. It was deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers in legacy X.25 packet-switched WAN environments connecting async terminals to X.25 hosts. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-X25PAD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-X25PAD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet/Bay Networks router with X.25 PAD interface

Monitoring Examples

No sample_objects were provided for this module; based on its X.25 PAD role, a realistic use would be polling per-session state and the associated X.25 virtual-circuit identifier to confirm an asynchronous terminal session is correctly mapped and active rather than stuck or disconnected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active PAD session state
  • X.3 parameter profile settings
  • associated X.25 virtual circuit
