What Is Wellfleet-X25-MIB?
The Wellfleet-X25-MIB is a Wellfleet Communications proprietary MIB managing the X.25 packet-layer protocol on Wellfleet routers, covering virtual circuit setup and packet-level statistics for this legacy WAN packet-switching standard. It exposes configuration objects for X.25 virtual circuits (both switched and permanent) and counters tracking packets, resets, and clears at the packet layer. Its monitoring emphasis is on service/software health: operators use it to confirm virtual circuits are established and passing packets, and to detect abnormal reset or clear-request rates that indicate signaling problems or congestion within the X.25 network. It depends directly on the underlying Wellfleet-LAPB-MIB, since X.25's packet layer runs over LAPB's data-link layer on the same physical interface. It was deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers serving as X.25 PAD or gateway devices in legacy carrier, banking, and government X.25 networks. Monitoring Examples
An engineer polls the X.25 virtual circuit table to confirm a given permanent virtual circuit is in the active data-transfer state, then checks the packet statistics counters for resets and clear requests on that circuit. A circuit experiencing frequent resets while the underlying LAPB link stays connected typically points to a packet-layer parameter mismatch (such as window size or packet size) with the remote X.25 DTE.
