What Is Wellfleet-ISDB-MIB?

Wellfleet-ISDB-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Wellfleet Communications/Bay Networks that manages ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) D-channel signaling parameters, call states, and B-channel allocation on its routers. It exposes configuration objects for the D-channel signaling setup along with status objects showing current call state and which B-channels are allocated to active calls. It is used to monitor the software/service status of ISDN dial-on-demand or backup links: administrators check whether the D-channel is in service and whether B-channels are being allocated and released correctly as calls come up and down, since a stuck call state can prevent a backup link from establishing when needed. It relies on the ISDN BRI signaling standards (Q.921/Q.931) for its underlying protocol concepts, implemented as a Wellfleet-proprietary management view. It was typically deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers using ISDN BRI circuits for dial backup or on-demand WAN connectivity. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-ISDB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-ISDB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet/Bay Networks router with ISDN BRI interfaces (legacy)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, so this is inferred: an administrator would poll the D-channel status and B-channel allocation/call-state objects to confirm ISDN backup calls establish correctly when the primary link fails. A B-channel stuck in a 'connecting' state without completing, or a D-channel reporting out-of-service, would explain why a dial-backup link failed to activate during a primary circuit outage.

What Can Be Monitored

  • D-channel signaling status
  • B-channel call state
  • B-channel allocation
  • ISDN call setup/teardown events
