Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks WAN Interfaces

Description: Monitors Wellfleet SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control) link stations, poll cycles, and IBM SNA statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Wellfleet-SDLC-MIB?

Wellfleet-SDLC-MIB is a Wellfleet router MIB for monitoring Synchronous Data Link Control (SDLC) link stations used to connect to legacy IBM SNA mainframe environments. It exposes configuration and operational objects for link station definitions, poll cycle timing, and SNA-related statistics such as frame/error counts. Its main use is monitoring the hardware/link status of each SDLC link station - whether a station is up, polling normally, or experiencing an abnormal error rate - which is important for detecting a failing serial line or misbehaving SNA endpoint. It is closely tied to IBM's SNA/SDLC protocol stack, which the router must interoperate with, though no separate IETF MIB dependency is indicated. It is deployed on Wellfleet routers acting as SDLC-to-LAN gateways in legacy IBM mainframe networking environments, and administrators can download the Wellfleet-SDLC-MIB file to load into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-SDLC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet/Bay Networks router (SDLC-to-LAN gateway)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module; typically an operator would poll each link station's status and poll-cycle counters to confirm it is actively polling, and check SNA error/frame counters to detect a station experiencing excessive retransmissions or link failures.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SDLC link station status
  • poll cycle statistics
  • SNA frame/error counters
