Description: Manages Wellfleet BayBridge MIB objects for backbone bridging configurations and traffic statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Wellfleet-BB-MIB-MIB?
Wellfleet-BB-MIB-MIB is a Wellfleet Communications (later Bay Networks) vendor-specific MIB that models the internal backbone bus interface of a Wellfleet router chassis — the shared bus over which slot cards exchange packets — rather than external network interfaces. Indexed by slot number in wfBackboneTable, it exposes a large set of low-level transmit and receive error/drop counters per slot (wfTxDropCtrSlotMask0, wfTxDropCtrNoGrant, wfTxDropCtrFlowCtrl, wfTxDied/wfTxDramDied, wfTxSofErrors, wfRxCrcErrors, wfRxOvrErrors, wfRxDied, wfRxDropCtr), plus board-level configuration such as wfTxBoardSpeedMask, wfTxBackboneSelectMode, wfTxFifoSize/wfRxFifoSize, and wfTxErrorEnableMask/wfRxErrorEnableMask. This granular, hardware-level counter set is useful for diagnosing internal chassis backplane problems (a specific slot card losing bus access, dropping packets internally, or a state machine "dying") that would otherwise appear only as unexplained packet loss on that slot's external interfaces. It depends on Wellfleet-COMMON-MIB for the wfGameGroup subtree, and administrators can download the Wellfleet-BB-MIB-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-BB-MIB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Wellfleet/Bay Networks multi-slot router chassis (backbone bus interface)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls wfTxDied and wfRxDied for a given wfBackboneSlot to check whether that slot card's transmit or receive backbone state machine has died, and reviews wfTxDropCtrNoGrant; a nonzero and increasing wfTxDied counter for one slot while other slots remain at zero would point to a hardware fault isolated to that specific line card rather than a chassis-wide backplane issue.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-slot TX/RX state-machine death counters
- per-slot packet drop counters (no grant, flow control, slot mask)
- per-slot CRC/overrun/framing error counters
- board speed mask and backbone selection mode
- TX/RX error-enable mask configuration
