What Is Unisphere-Data-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB?
Unisphere-Data-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB is a Unisphere Networks (later Juniper ERX) MIB for managing fractional T1 (channelized) circuit configuration on their ERX edge routers, allowing a subset of a T1's 24 timeslots to be grouped into a sub-rate data channel. It exposes a table for creating and configuring fractional T1 interfaces, including timeslot map/rate, data polarity, and loopback configuration, layered on top of an underlying physical T1 interface. This is primarily a configuration/provisioning MIB for fractional T1 channel groups; its status-monitoring value comes from usdFt1IfRowStatus (confirming a fractional T1 interface is active) and usdFt1IfLoopbackConfig (revealing if a circuit has been placed into loopback for testing, which would explain a customer-facing traffic outage). It depends on the standard T1/DS1 MIB conventions for the underlying physical interface referenced by usdFt1IfLowerIfIndex. Typical deployment is on Unisphere/Juniper ERX edge routers used by carriers to provision sub-T1-rate leased-line services to customers, where Unisphere-Data-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB SNMP monitoring verifies channel configuration and loopback state.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Unisphere Networks / Juniper ERX edge routers
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll usdFt1IfTable (usdFt1IfEntry) for a given usdFt1IfIndex, checking usdFt1IfRowStatus to confirm the fractional interface is active and usdFt1IfLowerIfIndex to identify the parent T1 physical interface it rides on. The usdFt1IfTimeSlotMap and usdFt1IfTimeSlotRate show which timeslots and at what rate are allocated to this channel, while usdFt1IfLoopbackConfig reveals whether the circuit is currently in a loopback state -- a common cause of a customer circuit reporting no traffic despite the underlying T1 being up. usdFt1IfDataPolarity would be checked if a customer reports bit errors traceable to inverted line polarity.
What Can Be Monitored
- fractional T1 channel row status
- timeslot map and rate allocation
- loopback configuration state
- data polarity setting
- parent T1 interface mapping
