Description: Manages Unisphere ERX IP address pool configuration, utilization, and dynamic assignment tracking.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Unisphere-Data-ADDRESS-POOL-MIB?
Unisphere-Data-ADDRESS-POOL-MIB is a Unisphere Networks (later Juniper ERX/E-series) enterprise MIB for managing IP address pools used in dynamic address assignment, such as for PPP/DHCP subscriber sessions on edge routers. It exposes a configuration and utilization category of data: pool definitions (name, start/end address range, size), current in-use count, and configurable high/abated utilization thresholds along with a computed utilization percentage. Its monitoring emphasis is on service-capacity/software status rather than hardware — it tells an operator whether an address pool is nearing exhaustion, which would prevent new subscriber sessions from being assigned an address, and it can drive trap notifications when utilization crosses configured thresholds. It has no notable external MIB dependency beyond the vendor's own Unisphere/ERX enterprise MIB tree and standard SNMPv2 table conventions. It is typically deployed on Unisphere/Juniper ERX edge routers used by broadband/dial access service providers to manage subscriber IP address allocation, and a Unisphere-Data-ADDRESS-POOL-MIB download from Juniper's legacy ERX MIB archive lets an operator load it into a MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-ADDRESS-POOL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Unisphere/Juniper ERX edge router (broadband/dial access aggregation)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the usdAddressPoolTable/usdAddressPoolEntry, keyed by usdAddressPoolIndex, checking usdAddressPoolInUse against usdAddressPoolSize (or the precomputed usdAddressPoolUtilPct) for a given usdAddressPoolName. A usdAddressPoolUtilPct climbing past the configured usdAddressPoolHighUtilThreshold would indicate the pool is nearing exhaustion and new subscriber sessions may soon fail to obtain an address, prompting a usdAddressPoolTraps notification and pool-size expansion, until utilization falls back below the usdAddressPoolAbatedUtilThreshold.
What Can Be Monitored
- address pool utilization percentage
- addresses in use vs pool size
- high/abated utilization threshold crossings
- address pool range/configuration
