Description: Manages Unisphere ERX host configuration, system identity, and management access parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Unisphere-Data-HOST-MIB?
This is a vendor MIB from Unisphere Networks (later absorbed into Juniper's ERX edge router line) that manages host-level configuration used for remote management access to the device. It exposes a host table describing management endpoints, including hostnames, IP addresses, the access protocol, and the credentials used to establish remote management sessions. Its monitoring value is chiefly administrative and operational: whether configured management hosts are reachable and correctly provisioned, and whether table entries are active via row status, which reflects the health of the device's remote-management subsystem rather than hardware metrics such as CPU or temperature. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB with no strong dependency on other standard MIBs beyond the base SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It is typically deployed on Unisphere/Juniper ERX broadband edge routers in service-provider networks where centralized, credentialed management access needs to be tracked and audited. Engineers can download the Unisphere-Data-HOST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-HOST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Unisphere Networks ERX edge router
- Juniper ERX broadband services router
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll usdHostTable/usdHostEntry to enumerate configured management hosts, checking usdHostName and usdHostIpAddress against expected values and usdHostProtocol to confirm the correct access method is configured. usdHostRowStatus reveals whether an entry is active, notInService, or failed to be created, flagging misconfigured or stale management-access entries. Because usdHostUserPassword is a writable credential object, monitoring tools would typically avoid reading it and instead focus on usdHostUserName and row status for auditing purposes.
What Can Be Monitored
- management host table entries
- host IP address
- configured access protocol
- configured username
- row status of host entries
