Description: Manages Unisphere ERX class-based forwarding policies, traffic classification, and queue management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Unisphere-Data-CBF-MIB?

Unisphere-Data-CBF-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Unisphere Networks (later acquired into Juniper's E-series) for managing Connection-Based Forwarding (CBF), a traffic classification and per-connection queue/policy forwarding feature on their ERX Routing Switch family. It exposes an interface table (mapping CBF-enabled interfaces to their lower-layer interface index and row status) and a connection table describing per-connection forwarding entries including ingress and egress interface indices. Its monitoring value is software/configuration status of the forwarding policy layer: confirming which interfaces have CBF enabled, whether connection-level forwarding entries are correctly established (row status active vs. not-in-service), and the ingress/egress interface pairing for each classified connection, rather than physical hardware metrics. It depends on the underlying standard IF-MIB ifIndex values for referencing physical/logical interfaces, and is paired with the Unisphere-Data-CBF-CONF conformance module. It is deployed on Unisphere/Juniper ERX Routing Switch platforms used by service providers for connection-based traffic classification and forwarding, and administrators typically use a Unisphere-Data-CBF-MIB MIB Browser session to inspect these tables directly.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-CBF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Unisphere Networks (Juniper) ERX Routing Switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk usdCbfIfTable (usdCbfIfEntry rows keyed by usdCbfIfIndex) to confirm usdCbfIfRowStatus is active for each interface where CBF should be enabled, cross-referencing usdCbfIfLowerIfIndex against the standard interface table. Walking usdCbfIfConnTable (usdCbfIfConnEntry) reveals per-connection usdCbfIfIngressIfIndex and usdCbfIfEgressIfIndex pairings and usdCbfIfConnRowStatus; a connection entry stuck in a non-active row status would indicate a forwarding policy failed to instantiate correctly.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CBF-enabled interface list and row status
  • per-connection ingress/egress interface mapping
  • connection forwarding entry status
  • next available CBF interface index
