Category: Ubiquoss Enterprise Networking

Description: Manages Ubiquoss SNMP agent configuration including community strings, trap targets, and access control.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UBQS-SNMP-MIB?

UBQS-SNMP-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP MIB module for Ubiquoss network switches, extending the standard SNMP notification framework used by carrier/ISP access equipment. It exposes configuration objects that control how the SNMP agent generates and delivers notifications, including trap destination handling, community-based access control, and the conformance groups/compliance statements the agent supports. Rather than presenting hardware sensor data itself, this MIB governs the alerting mechanism - determining whether and how a Ubiquoss device reports fault conditions such as link or hardware failures to a management station, so its role in monitoring is indirect but essential since it is the plumbing that carries hardware/software fault traps upstream. It mirrors and extends the structure of the standard SNMPv2-MIB/SNMP-NOTIFICATION-MIB conformance framework. It is typically deployed in ISP/carrier access networks where a centralized NMS needs reliable trap delivery from Ubiquoss access/aggregation switches. Engineers can download the UBQS-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBQS-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquoss network switch (access/aggregation)

Monitoring Examples

The module defines ubiSnmpMIBObjects as the root for its configuration data, with ubiSnmpMIBGroups and ubiSnmpMIBCompliances nested under ubiSnmpMIBConformance describing which object groups and compliance levels the agent implements. Because the sample objects expose only top-level structural nodes (objects, conformance, compliances, groups, notification-prefix) rather than concrete leaf/table objects, this module appears to be primarily a conformance/structural framework layered over unseen configuration tables. An administrator would use the underlying trap-destination and community tables to point the device at an NMS receiver so hardware/link faults get reported as SNMP traps.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SNMP trap destination configuration
  • community string access control
  • notification object group compliance
