Description: FSC-SWITCH-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FSC-SWITCH-MIB?
FSC-SWITCH-MIB is a Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) private MIB module that primarily establishes the FSC enterprise OID registration tree (sni, sniProductMibs, sniServerMgmt, and subordinate branches for inventory, BIOS, EISA, hard disk, bus, server control, OS-specific extensions, OEM components, security, and ServerView) under a single MODULE-IDENTITY named switch, whose own DESCRIPTION is simply "The FSC Private MIB for Enterprises Number." As shipped, the file defines an AgentPortMask textual convention (a per-port bitmap similar to a bridge port list) but does not itself define concrete OBJECT-TYPE tables of switch counters or state — those live in separate, dependent FSC MIB modules that root their OIDs under this tree. In practice it functions as a namespace anchor rather than a data-bearing MIB, so any monitoring value comes from the sibling modules built on top of it rather than from this file directly. It is deployed wherever Fujitsu Siemens branded servers or managed switches expose SNMP agents that need a stable enterprise OID base. Administrators can perform an FSC-SWITCH-MIB download mainly to resolve the OID roots that other FSC-branded management MIBs build upon.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FSC-SWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Fujitsu Siemens Computers branded servers and managed Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator loads FSC-SWITCH-MIB primarily to resolve the sni/sniServerMgmt OID branch referenced by other Fujitsu Siemens management MIBs; since it defines no monitorable counters itself, an unexpected or missing OID under this root would indicate a mismatched or outdated companion MIB rather than a device fault.
What Can Be Monitored
- enterprise OID tree/namespace registration (no monitorable counters defined directly)
- AgentPortMask bridge-port bitmap textual convention
- OID roots for BIOS/EISA/HD/bus/server-control sub-MIBs
- OID roots for OS-specific (NetWare/WinNT/OS2/Unix) extensions
- OID root for ServerView integration
