Category: Nokia Carrier Ethernet, QoS

Description: Manages Nokia carrier Ethernet QoS policy classification, queuing, and scheduling configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TN-QOS-MIB?

This is a Nokia MIB for the 7x50 SR-series service routers that manages Quality of Service policy definitions, covering SAP (service access point) ingress classification, forwarding-class assignment, and HSMDA (Hierarchical Slotted Multi-Directional Access) scheduling parameters. It exposes QoS policy tables that classify and prioritize traffic entering a service access point, including match criteria and default forwarding-class/priority assignments. It supports monitoring of software/policy configuration state, primarily via tnSapIngressLastChanged and row-status fields, to help an admin confirm which QoS policy version is active on a SAP and detect unexpected policy churn that could explain traffic drops or misclassification. It is part of Nokia's broader SROS QoS/SAP MIB family and depends on the underlying SAP and forwarding-class definitions maintained elsewhere in that family. It is typically deployed on Nokia 7x50 service routers in carrier networks, where TN-QOS-MIB SNMP monitoring helps enforce per-service QoS treatment for business or residential traffic.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia 7750 SR series routers

Monitoring Examples

An engineer would review the tnSapIngressTable (tnSapIngressEntry) for a tnSapIngressIndex to check tnSapIngressDefaultFC and tnSapIngressDefaultFCPriority, confirming untagged/unmatched traffic gets the intended forwarding class. tnSapIngressMatchCriteria and tnSapIngressScope reveal how granular the classification rules are for that SAP, while tnSapIngressLastChanged flags when the policy was last modified, useful for correlating a QoS change with a reported service issue. HSMDA-specific counters like tnSapIngressDefFCHsmdaCntrOvr would indicate counter overflow on high-scale hardware.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SAP ingress QoS policy assignment
  • default forwarding class and priority
  • classification match criteria
  • policy last-changed timestamp
  • HSMDA counter overflow status
