Description: Manages Nokia RMD IEEE 802.1ag CFM domain and maintenance endpoint configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TN-RMD-CFM-MIB?
TN-RMD-CFM-MIB is a Nokia proprietary SNMP MIB implementing IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management for Remote Managed Devices (RMDs), covering CFM maintenance domain/MEP configuration plus Delay Measurement (DM), Loss Measurement (LM), and Synthetic Loss Measurement (SLM) mechanisms used for Ethernet OAM SLA verification. It exposes system-wide CFM capacity limits (max MEPs, max LM priority levels), per-MEP identity data (maintenance domain index/format/name), and a local-time reference used for DM calculations. It is used to monitor the software status of Ethernet OAM/fault-management capability on the device: how many MEPs are currently configured against the maximum supported, and each MEP's maintenance-domain binding, important for confirming CFM capacity headroom and correct MEP-to-domain assignment when diagnosing a fault or SLA violation. It is explicitly built as an extension to the standard IEEE 802.1ag CFM model, so it depends directly on that base standard's MEP/MD/MA structure for full interpretation. It is deployed on Nokia-managed remote access/aggregation devices (RMDs) in carrier Ethernet networks requiring standards-based Ethernet OAM and SLA monitoring. Engineers can download the TN-RMD-CFM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-RMD-CFM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia Remote Managed Devices (RMDs) in carrier Ethernet access/aggregation networks
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls tnRmdSystemCfmTable/tnRmdSystemCfmEntry to check tnRmdSystemCfmMaxNrMeps against the number of entries in tnRmdCfmMepTable, confirming the device has not exhausted its MEP capacity before provisioning a new maintenance point. tnRmdCfmMepTable/tnRmdCfmMepEntry is checked per tnRmdCfmMepNumber/tnRmdCfmMepMdIndex to verify a given MEP is correctly bound to its maintenance domain (tnRmdCfmMepMdName), essential when a delay- or loss-measurement session unexpectedly fails to establish. tnRmdSystemCfmDmUpdateLocalTime is referenced when interpreting delay-measurement results, since DM calculations rely on this local time reference to correlate probe timestamps.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured MEP count vs. max supported
- per-MEP maintenance domain binding/index/format
- delay/loss/synthetic-loss measurement capability
- local time reference for DM
