Category: Network Management Infrastructure, System Management

Description: Manages Wind River TMS common configuration objects shared across TMS platform modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TMS-COMMON-MIB?

TMS-COMMON-MIB is a Wind River enterprise MIB module that underlies the various TMS platform MIBs Wind River ships for its managed products. Rather than exposing hardware or software runtime data of its own, it defines shared textual conventions, common object identifiers, and reusable status/type definitions that other TMS-*-MIB modules import to describe things like hardware state or fault conditions consistently. Because no sample objects were present for this module, it should be treated as a definitions/import module rather than one exposing pollable operational counters or state tables directly, so it is not itself a source of uptime, temperature, or performance data. Other MIBs in the Wind River TMS family are presumed to depend on it for shared conventions, making it foundational rather than standalone. It is deployed alongside Wind River TMS-managed platform devices purely as a supporting module, not as something an operator queries directly for status. Engineers can download the TMS-COMMON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TMS-COMMON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wind River TMS-managed platform devices (a Wind River-specific enterprise family, not a general vendor-neutral standard)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, consistent with it acting as a shared-definitions/import module (textual conventions, common types) rather than one containing its own OID tables that an SNMP agent exposes runtime data through. As such, no concrete monitoring scenario can honestly be constructed for TMS-COMMON-MIB itself; its purpose is to be imported by other TMS platform MIBs that do expose live data.
