Description: The svcTlsMacPinningViolation notification is generated when an attempt is made to assign a MAC address to another interface while this MAC address is pinned (i.e. assigned fixed to an interface).

What is svcTlsMacPinningViolation?

This is an alert notification that fires when someone attempts to assign a MAC address to a different network interface when that MAC address has already been pinned (permanently bound) to another interface. MAC pinning is a security feature that locks a device's MAC address to a specific port to prevent unauthorized network access. Network operators use this notification to detect potential network security issues or misconfiguration attempts.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' TIMETRA-SERV-MIB::svcTlsMacPinningViolation
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.4.2.0.11

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:57932->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (384263756) 44 days, 11:23:57.56
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: TIMETRA-SERV-MIB::svcTlsMacPinningViolation
