Description: The pipActiveProtocolChange notification is generated when the spanning tree protocol on this PIP Uplink changes from rstp to stp or vice-versa. No recovery is needed.

What is pipActiveProtocolChange?

This SNMP trap (notification) is generated automatically when a PIP (Packet-in-Packet) uplink switches between Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and Standard Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). Network operators receive this alert to become aware of spanning tree topology changes that could affect data path redundancy. No manual recovery is needed because the protocol switch is self-healing and expected behavior.

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
