newRootBridge

Module: TIMETRA-SERV-MIB

OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-SERV-MIB::newRootBridge

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.4.5.0.7

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

The newRootBridge notification is generated when this bridge has been elected as the new root bridge. A new root bridge creates a new spanning tree topology and may denote loss of customer access or redundancy. Check the new topology against the provisioned topology to determine severity of connectivity loss.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' TIMETRA-SERV-MIB::newRootBridge
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.4.5.0.7

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:63835->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (209977179) 24 days, 7:16:11.79
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: TIMETRA-SERV-MIB::newRootBridge
