Description: Manages TFTIF interface configuration and operational status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TFTIF-MIB?
TFTIF-MIB is a vendor enterprise MIB module for configuring TFTP-based file transfer operations used to manage device firmware/configuration over the network, covering both a modem/main-control (mcm) and non-volatile memory (nvm) TFTP client role. It exposes configuration objects for the TFTP server address, filename, timeout, retransmission count, and port, along with control objects to trigger a download and status objects reporting the upload/download outcome. Its monitoring value lies in configuration and software management: an operator can confirm a firmware or configuration file transfer completed successfully, or detect a failed/timed-out TFTP operation, which is a software-status concern rather than a hardware one. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB with no apparent dependency on other standard MIBs beyond basic SNMP types. It is typically deployed on embedded broadband access or CPE-type devices that use TFTP for firmware upgrades and configuration backup/restore. Engineers can download the TFTIF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TFTIF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- broadband CPE/access device using TFTP for firmware and config management
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would set mcmTFTPServerIpAddr and mcmTFTPFileName, then trigger mcmTFTPStart to initiate a firmware download, polling mcmTFTPParamGroup/status objects to confirm success or detect a failure after mcmTFTPRetransmissions are exhausted. The parallel nvmTFTPServerIpAddr and nvmTFTPFileName objects allow a similar transfer for non-volatile memory configuration backup, letting an operator verify a config upload/restore completed within the configured mcmTFTPTimeOut. Repeated retransmissions with no completion would indicate a network path or TFTP server problem affecting the device's ability to update its software.
What Can Be Monitored
- TFTP server address and filename in use
- TFTP transfer timeout and retransmission count
- TFTP download/upload trigger and status
- firmware/config transfer success or failure
