Category: DSL and xDSL Access, Port and Interface Management
Description: Handles DS3 interface configuration, framing, and performance statistics on Terawave DSL access equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TERAWAVE-terads3-MIB?
TERAWAVE-terads3-MIB is a vendor MIB from Terawave Communications for their DSL/access platform's DS3 interface modules, covering DS3 (and nested DS1) line configuration, framing, and performance monitoring. It exposes a DS3 configuration table with per-line settings like out-of-frame criteria, AIS bit-check scheme, FEAC (far-end alarm and control) criteria and loopback checks, alongside far-end/near-end loopback status for the DS1 channels carried within the DS3, and long-term interval counters. This makes it useful for monitoring the physical-layer software/hardware status of DS3 transmission links, detecting loopback conditions, framing errors, and accumulated valid/invalid statistics intervals that indicate line quality degradation, complementing the standard DS3 alarm state. It builds on the IETF DS3/E3 MIB conventions for its base interface model, extending them with Terawave-specific FEAC and loopback detail objects. It is typically deployed on Terawave DSL access multiplexers/access concentrators that aggregate subscriber DS1 circuits onto DS3 uplinks. Engineers can download the TERAWAVE-terads3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERAWAVE-terads3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Terawave DSL access multiplexers
- DS3/DS1 access concentrators
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll teraDSX3ConfigTable/teraDSX3ConfigTableEntry keyed by teraDs3LineIndex to check teraDs3OOFCriteria and teraDs3AISBitsChkSchm settings, and read teraDs3DS1FarEndLoopStatus/teraDs3DS1NearEndLoopStatus to see if a DS1 channel is stuck in loopback. Rising values in teraDs3ExtendInvalidTotalIntervals relative to teraDs3ExtendValidTotalIntervals over the teraDs37DayTotalTimeElapsed window would indicate a degrading DS3 line needing attention.
What Can Be Monitored
- DS3 line configuration/framing criteria
- AIS bit-check scheme
- FEAC alarm/loopback status
- DS1 near-end/far-end loopback state
- valid/invalid statistics intervals
- elapsed time counters
