Category: Teldat Router Management

Description: Monitors Teldat router bandwidth reservation system (BRS) feature status, usage, and operational counters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-MON-FEATURES-BRS-MIB?

TELDAT-MON-FEATURES-BRS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Teldat covering the Bandwidth Reservation System (BRS) feature on Teldat routers, which manages traffic classes and bandwidth allocation per interface. It exposes a per-interface, per-class counter table tracking transmitted and discarded packets and bytes for each configured BRS traffic class. Its monitoring purpose is software/feature performance status: administrators use it to verify that bandwidth reservation policies are working as intended, watching for discarded packets/bytes that indicate a traffic class is exceeding its reserved bandwidth or being starved, and can reset counters per interface/class as needed. It is a feature-specific companion to other Teldat MIBs (such as interface and QoS-related modules) since BRS operates on top of physical/logical interfaces already represented elsewhere. It is typically deployed in enterprise or branch-office WAN links where Teldat routers enforce QoS bandwidth guarantees across multiple traffic classes. Engineers can download the TELDAT-MON-FEATURES-BRS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-MON-FEATURES-BRS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat enterprise/carrier routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountTable / telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountEntry, indexed by telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountIfc and telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountClass, to compare telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountTxPkt/TxByt against telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountDiscPkt/DiscByt for a given traffic class -- a rising discard count on a supposedly low-priority class while a high-priority class shows clean throughput indicates the BRS policy is correctly protecting priority traffic under congestion. The telProdNpMonFeatBrsDevCountClear object lets an operator reset counters after adjusting the bandwidth reservation configuration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-class transmitted packets/bytes
  • per-class discarded packets/bytes
  • per-interface BRS traffic class counters
  • counter reset/clear status
