Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router BR (bridge) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-BR-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-BR-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Teldat (a router/networking equipment manufacturer) defining trap notifications for the bridging (BR) subsystem of Teldat routers. Rather than exposing polled counters, it defines fault/event notification objects - source and destination MAC addresses and interface identifiers for up to several bridge instances (br1 through br4) that are carried inside trap payloads when bridging events occur. This is primarily a fault/event monitoring MIB: it is used to detect and diagnose bridging-related problems such as MAC conflicts, loops, or unexpected topology changes on Teldat router bridge interfaces, rather than tracking hardware health metrics like temperature or CPU. It depends on the standard SNMP notification framework (NOTIFICATION-TYPE) to deliver its brNotifications. Typical deployment is on Teldat routers used in enterprise or carrier WAN/LAN bridging roles, where a network management station subscribes to brNotifications for real-time bridge event alerting. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-BR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-BR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router (bridging module)

Monitoring Examples

A NMS receiving a trap from brNotifications would extract br1-source-mac, br1-dest-mac, and br1-interface to identify which bridge instance and interface reported an event, such as an unexpected MAC learned on br2-interface. Correlating repeated traps referencing the same br3-dest-mac across different interfaces could reveal a MAC-flapping condition indicative of a bridging loop. Since the MIB is trap-only, there is no polled table to walk for ongoing status - monitoring relies entirely on receiving and interpreting brNotifications events.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bridge event notifications
  • source/destination MAC address per bridge instance
  • bridge interface identifier
  • bridge event trap type/prefix
