Category: Storage

Description: Manages Tegile all-flash and hybrid storage array performance, capacity, and health state.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TEGILE-MIB?

TEGILE-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for Tegile Systems (now part of Western Digital) all-flash and hybrid storage arrays, covering the dual-controller high-availability architecture typical of enterprise storage systems. It exposes data spanning both controllers' identity and network configuration, software version, uptime, and hardware model, as well as system-level performance counters like CPU usage. Its central monitoring purpose is hardware and software status of the storage array: administrators track each controller's uptime and software version for patch/firmware compliance, CPU utilization for performance headroom, and overall array health/properties to catch controller failover or capacity issues before they affect service. It builds on the standard SNMP agent framework (its own snmpAgentVersion object) rather than depending heavily on other vendor MIBs. It is typically deployed in enterprise or mid-market data centers running Tegile HA storage arrays for virtualization, database, or general block/file storage workloads. Engineers can download the TEGILE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TEGILE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Tegile (Western Digital) all-flash and hybrid storage arrays

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll haControllerA-Uptime and haControllerB-Uptime alongside haControllerA-SoftwareVersion / haControllerB-SoftwareVersion to confirm both controllers in the HA pair are running matching firmware and have not unexpectedly rebooted (a mismatch or a controller uptime resetting to zero suggests a failover event). Watching cpuTotalUsage and cpuSystemCalls reveals whether the array's controllers are under heavy processing load, while controllerHardwareModel and haControllerA-IPAddr / haControllerB-IPAddr identify exactly which physical controller and management address is reporting.

What Can Be Monitored

  • controller uptime
  • controller software/firmware version
  • controller IP address
  • CPU utilization and system calls
  • hardware model
  • array notifications/alerts
