Category: Server Hardware Monitoring, Storage

Description: Provides NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents trap notifications for Windows disk mirror (RAID-1) fault and synchronization events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PSA-WinDiskMirrorTrap-MIB?

This MIB is part of NEC's ESMPRO ServerAgent suite and defines SNMP trap notifications specifically for Windows-based disk mirroring (RAID-1) fault and resynchronization events on NEC servers. It is a notification-only MIB, exposing trap payload objects that describe the affected disk partition, physical unit, and module identity rather than a polled table of ongoing state. It is squarely a hardware fault-monitoring MIB: it lets an administrator receive alerts about disk mirror problems such as a suspect or failed disk, including which unit, partition, model, and serial number of the affected disk hardware is involved, enabling rapid identification of the failing physical disk before data loss occurs. It depends on the broader NEC ESMPRO enterprise numbering/trap framework alongside standard SNMP notification (trap) conventions. It is typically deployed on NEC PC servers running Windows with software or hardware RAID-1 mirrored disks, monitored via ESMPRO ServerAgent and a receiving NMS. Engineers can download the PSA-WinDiskMirrorTrap-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-WinDiskMirrorTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Windows, RAID-1 disk mirroring (fault/resync traps)

Monitoring Examples

When a mirrored partition degrades, the device sends a trap populated with trapPartitionName, trapPartitionId, and trapUnitName identifying which logical partition and physical disk unit is affected, along with trapEventLevel and trapEventId classifying severity and event type. trapModelNo and trapSerialNo pinpoint the exact physical disk hardware, while trapSuspect flags that a specific disk in the mirror is suspected faulty, prompting the administrator to physically replace that disk. trapStepping and trapPartNo/trapMmbVip provide additional hardware revision and management-blade context for the alert.

What Can Be Monitored

  • disk mirror fault events
  • suspect/failed disk identification
  • affected partition name and ID
  • disk unit model and serial number
  • event severity level
