Category: Generic / Unclassified

Description: Manages SPS v1 device configuration, power status, and operational parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SPSv1-MIB?

SPSv1-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB, apparently from Powertek/a PDU (power distribution unit) product line, covering device identity and network configuration for a smart PDU. It exposes agent software version and serial number identity plus IPv4/IPv6 network configuration (DHCP control, address, gateway, subnet, DNS servers, IPv6 autoconfig and prefix). Its monitoring value centers on software/configuration status: pduIdentAgentSoftwareVersion confirms the management firmware level, while the pduNetworkTcpip* objects reveal whether the unit has a valid, reachable network configuration, which is a prerequisite for polling any power/environmental data it may also expose. Given the object naming, it likely depends on or accompanies a broader PDU power-monitoring MIB from the same vendor tree (product/pdu) for load, outlet, and power-status objects. It is deployed on rack-mounted PDUs in data centers or server rooms managed over IP, where SPSv1-MIB SNMP monitoring confirms the unit's network reachability before assuming a power or hardware fault.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SPSv1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Powertek/SPS-series rack PDU

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check pduIdentAgentSoftwareVersion and pduIdentSerialNumber to inventory which firmware version a given PDU is running, and would poll pduNetworkTcpipIpv4Address, pduNetworkTcpipIpv4Gateway, and pduNetworkTcpipIpv4DhcpControl to confirm the unit obtained or was assigned correct network settings. pduNetworkTcpipIpv6Control and pduNetworkTcpipIpv6Address would be checked in dual-stack environments to verify IPv6 reachability. A PDU that stops responding to SNMP would first be checked here for a changed IP or failed DHCP lease before assuming a hardware fault.
