Description: Manages Solid Optics optical multiplexer channel configuration, power levels, and link status monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SO-MUX-MIB?
SO-MUX-MIB is a Solid Optics proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 51628) reporting DCM (Dispersion Compensation Module) distance and pre/post-EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) optical measurements on Solid Optics optical transport equipment. Its objects cover DCM fiber distance and sequential pre-EDFA/post-EDFA tables recording gain, power in/out, and temperature per stage. As a hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator watch EDFA gain and power levels at each amplification stage to catch optical-power drift before it degrades a DWDM link. It is deployed on Solid Optics optical transport (DWDM amplifier) equipment. Engineers can download the SO-MUX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SO-MUX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Solid Optics optical transport (DWDM amplifier) equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator monitors prePowerGainValue and postPowerGainValue together to catch an EDFA amplifier stage drifting out of its expected gain range on a Solid Optics DWDM link.
What Can Be Monitored
- EDFA gain/power/temperature per amplification stage
