What Is SO-TC-MIB?
SO-TC-MIB is Smartoptics' enterprise MIB defining shared textual conventions and common data types used across their optical transport product MIB modules, complementing the top-level DCP-MIB registration module. It does not expose runtime data itself but standardizes how status, alarm, and measurement values are typed and represented in other Smartoptics MIBs. Network engineers browsing for the SO-TC-MIB MIB in a MIB repository should expect only type definitions rather than pollable objects. Its indirect relevance to monitoring is that it underlies the representation of hardware status data in Smartoptics' optical platform MIBs, such as enumerated states for optical signal quality, transceiver presence, or alarm severity used elsewhere in the product line. Nearly all other Smartoptics-specific MIB modules, including those under the DCP-MIB hierarchy, depend on this TC module for consistent data typing. It is deployed alongside Smartoptics optical transport equipment (DWDM/optical networking platforms) wherever SNMP-based management is used.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SO-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Smartoptics optical transport equipment (DWDM/optical networking platforms), entire product line (shared textual conventions)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, consistent with its role as a pure textual-conventions definitions file. In practice, administrators never poll SO-TC-MIB directly; they instead encounter its defined types as the syntax of objects in other Smartoptics optical-platform MIBs, such as an enumerated status type applied to an optical port or transceiver table. As a conformance/type-definition module, it has no standalone monitoring scenario.
