Category: Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring

Description: Defines ServersCheck environmental and infrastructure monitoring objects for data center sensors.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SERVERSCHECK-MIB?

SERVERSCHECK-MIB is a vendor MIB from ServersCheck, a maker of environmental sensor appliances used to monitor physical conditions in server rooms and data centers. It defines a table of numbered sensor channels (sensor1 through at least sensor12), each with a configurable name and a corresponding reading, typically covering temperature, humidity, water/leak detection, or airflow depending on which physical probe is attached to that channel. This MIB is entirely about hardware/environmental status monitoring rather than software: it lets an operator detect a temperature spike, humidity excursion, or water leak in a server room that could damage equipment or cause an outage, well before the condition becomes critical. It is a standalone vendor-specific module not layered on an IETF standard, so it is polled independently by NMS or DCIM tools rather than depending on another MIB. It is deployed wherever a ServersCheck sensor unit is installed in a data center, server room, or network closet to report ambient conditions via SNMP to a central monitoring system. Engineers can download the SERVERSCHECK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SERVERSCHECK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ServersCheck environmental monitoring appliance
  • data center/server room sensor unit

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll sensorTable entries alongside sensor1Name through sensor12Name to identify which labeled physical sensor (for example, a rack-inlet temperature probe) is reporting a fault, and read sensor1 or sensor2 for the current value from the first two attached probes to catch a temperature or humidity threshold breach in the room. Because each channel is independently named and read, an admin can map specific probes to specific rack or room locations.

What Can Be Monitored

  • sensor name/label per channel
  • temperature reading
  • humidity reading
  • sensor channel online/offline status
  • readings across up to 12+ configured sensor channels
