Category: Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring, Enterprise SMI and Registration, Environmental and Power Monitoring
Description: Defines the Sensatronics LLC enterprise SMI root OID for environmental monitoring MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SENSATRONICS-SMI?
SENSATRONICS-SMI is not a data-bearing management MIB but the Structure of Management Information module for Sensatronics LLC, defining the vendor's top-level enterprise OID arc under the IANA private enterprise numbers tree. It contains no monitorable objects itself; instead it exists purely to anchor the OID namespace that Sensatronics' actual product MIBs (such as SENSATRONICS-ITTM) build on. Because it defines no runtime data, it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status — its function is purely structural/administrative. It is a foundational dependency for every other Sensatronics MIB, which register their objects under it. It is not deployed on devices in any operational sense; it exists only as a definitional module loaded by MIB compilers alongside Sensatronics product MIBs, with the SENSATRONICS-SMI MIB reference used solely to resolve that shared OID prefix.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SENSATRONICS-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral definitional module - not a device-facing MIB; underlies Sensatronics LLC environmental monitoring hardware
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only the enterprise OID root and no runtime objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe — it is loaded by MIB tooling to resolve the OID prefix used by the vendor's real product MIBs (e.g., SENSATRONICS-ITTM) rather than polled directly.
