What Is RUCKUS-SZ-EVENT-MIB?
RUCKUS-SZ-EVENT-MIB defines SNMP trap notifications for the Ruckus SmartZone wireless LAN controller, covering operational and alarm-level events generated by the controller and its managed access points. Rather than polled counters, its data category is fault/event notification: traps carrying an event OID and payload describing what happened (e.g. AP up/down, alarm raised/cleared) on the SmartZone system. This is fundamentally a fault-monitoring MIB for hardware/software status changes, letting an admin receive near-real-time notifications of controller or AP state transitions rather than having to poll for them. The presence of an object like ruckusPrimaryGRE suggests some events relate to GRE tunnel connectivity between APs and the SmartZone controller. It is deployed in enterprise/carrier Wi-Fi environments where SmartZone controllers forward SNMP traps to a central NMS for real-time alerting, and a RUCKUS-SZ-EVENT-MIB download provides the trap definitions needed to configure that NMS.

Monitoring Examples
A monitoring station configured to receive SNMP traps from this MIB would be alerted when a trap fires referencing ruckusPrimaryGRE, indicating a change in the primary GRE tunnel state between an access point and the SmartZone controller (e.g. tunnel down). Because this module is event/trap-oriented rather than a table of pollable counters, an admin's typical workflow is to watch the trap receiver for these notifications rather than periodically polling values. The trap payload would be inspected to identify which AP or controller subsystem generated the alarm and its severity.
