What Is RUCKUS-ROOT-MIB?
RUCKUS-ROOT-MIB is the enterprise root MIB for Ruckus Wireless (now part of CommScope RUCKUS), defining the top-level OID tree under which all Ruckus wireless access point and controller MIB modules register. It organizes several common sub-branches — textual conventions, hardware-information, software-information, and device modules — that other Ruckus MIBs build on, though the runtime objects themselves live in those subordinate modules rather than in this root. Because it primarily provides structure, it has no direct monitoring objects of its own for hardware or software status, but the presence of dedicated HwInfo and SwInfo sub-branches signals that downstream Ruckus MIBs use this root to expose hardware inventory and software version data for access points and controllers. It is a foundational dependency for the entire Ruckus common MIB family (ruckusCommonTCModule, ruckusCommonHwInfoModule, ruckusCommonSwInfoModule, ruckusCommonDeviceModule). Opening the RUCKUS-ROOT-MIB MIB Browser tree shows only these organizational sub-branches rather than pollable leaf values, confirming its role as a structural anchor. It is used in enterprise and carrier Wi-Fi deployments managing Ruckus access points and wireless LAN controllers via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ruckus Wireless (CommScope RUCKUS) access point and controller product family, entire common MIB tree (root OID registration)
Monitoring Examples
This module itself defines only root and common sub-branch nodes (ruckusObjects, ruckusCommon, ruckusCommonTCModule, ruckusCommonHwInfoModule, ruckusCommonSwInfoModule, ruckusCommonDeviceModule) rather than pollable scalars or tables, so there is no direct monitoring scenario at this level. The presence of ruckusCommonHwInfoModule and ruckusCommonSwInfoModule indicates that hardware inventory and firmware version reporting for Ruckus APs/controllers is organized under this tree, even though those specific objects are defined in subordinate modules.
