What Is REDLINE-MIB?
REDLINE-MIB is the private enterprise MIB root for Redline Communications Inc., a vendor of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless broadband (WiMAX-class) radio equipment. It defines the top-level branches under which the vendor's system and transmission management objects are registered, serving as the umbrella structure rather than a single functional MIB. In practice it anchors objects used to check basic device health and identity as well as radio-link transmission status on Redline base stations and subscriber units. Because it is an enterprise-private tree, it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprises arc for its registration and typically coexists with IF-MIB and other standard MIBs for interface-level statistics, and field technicians new to the platform commonly load it into a REDLINE-MIB MIB Browser to see how the redlineSystem and redlineTransmission branches are organized before writing polling scripts. It is deployed wherever Redline wireless broadband links are used, such as rural or industrial backhaul networks, and is polled by NMS platforms to confirm the radio units are up and communicating correctly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDLINE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- system identity and status
- device uptime
- transmission/radio link status
- base station and subscriber unit health
Supported Devices
- Redline Communications fixed wireless broadband (WiMAX-class) radio equipment, entire product line (enterprise-root OID registration)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would walk the redlineSystem branch to pull device identity, uptime, and general status for a Redline subscriber unit, and poll the redlineTransmission branch for radio-link parameters such as signal quality or link state. A sudden drop in values under redlineTransmission combined with no change in redlineSystem uptime would suggest a degraded RF link rather than a device reboot. Since this MIB only defines the top-level tree, actual leaf objects live in vendor sub-MIBs registered beneath these two branches.
