Category: Raisecom Networks

Description: Configures DHCP client operation and monitors lease status on Raisecom access devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RAISECOM-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB?

RAISECOM-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB is a Raisecom-specific MIB that configures and reports on the DHCP client function of a Raisecom switch's own management interface — it manages the switch acting as a DHCP client requesting an address from an external DHCP server, not a DHCP server or relay function. Its rcDhcpClientRequestTable, indexed by rcDhcpClientRequestIfIndex, exposes request controls (rcDhcpClientRequestHostname, ClassId, ClientId, and rcDhcpClientRequestOperationType for request/renew/release actions) alongside the results of the last DHCP transaction — rcDhcpClientRequestOperationStates (initialize/requesting/requestsuccessfully/requestgetfailed/renewfailed, etc.), the obtained rcDhcpClientRequestIpAddress, DefaultGateway, SubnetMask, lease start/end/duration, and DHCP/TFTP server addresses, plus a rcDhcpClientRequestedAddressTrap notification fired when an address is obtained. Because rcDhcpClientRequestOperationStates and rcDhcpClientRequestResultStates directly report success or failure of the DHCP handshake, this MIB is useful for confirming a Raisecom device's management interface actually obtained (or renewed) a valid IP lease, and for catching a stuck requestgetfailed/renewfailed state that would leave the device unreachable via DHCP-assigned addressing. It depends on RAISECOM-BASE-MIB and SWITCH-SYSTEM-MIB for its enterprise anchor and MAC-address object, and is deployed on Raisecom access/aggregation switches configured to obtain management addressing via DHCP; operators can search the RAISECOM-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB MIB Browser listing to inspect these request/state objects when troubleshooting DHCP client behavior.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RAISECOM-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Raisecom access/aggregation switches (DHCP client on management interface)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls rcDhcpClientRequestOperationStates and rcDhcpClientRequestIpAddress for a device's management interface; a state stuck at requestgetfailed(4) with no assigned IP address would indicate the device cannot reach or obtain a lease from its configured DHCP server.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP client operation type (request/renew/release)
  • DHCP client operation state (success/failure variants)
  • obtained IP address, gateway, and subnet mask
  • lease start/end/duration
  • DHCP/TFTP server address in use
  • address-obtained notification trap
