Category: Raisecom Networks

Description: Configures syslog service destinations and message severity filtering on Raisecom devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RAISECOM-SYSLOG-SERVICE-MIB?

RAISECOM-SYSLOG-SERVICE-MIB is a vendor-specific Raisecom module that manages the syslog service on Raisecom network devices, controlling where log messages are sent and at what severity level. It exposes configuration branches for basic logging settings, remote log server destinations, debug logging controls, and trap-related grouping for log-triggered SNMP notifications. Its role in monitoring is largely indirect: rather than reporting hardware health metrics itself, it controls the channel (syslog server, severity filters) through which software/hardware fault and status events are externally reported, so verifying raisecomLogServer configuration and raisecomLogTrapGroup settings ensures other fault conditions are actually being captured and forwarded. It has an implicit dependency on standard SNMP notification mechanisms and the SNMPv2-MIB trap infrastructure for delivering log-related traps. It is typically deployed alongside centralized syslog collectors in Raisecom-equipped access and aggregation networks, and administrators can download the RAISECOM-SYSLOG-SERVICE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RAISECOM-SYSLOG-SERVICE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Raisecom switch
  • Raisecom access/aggregation device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check raisecomLogServer entries to confirm the configured remote syslog destination IP and port are correct, and inspect raisecomLogBasic settings to verify the minimum severity level being forwarded. If raisecomLogTrapGroup is misconfigured, expected fault/event traps may silently stop reaching the NMS even though the underlying hardware issue is occurring. raisecomDebug settings would be checked when troubleshooting to see if verbose debug-level logging has been inadvertently left enabled, which can affect device performance.

What Can Be Monitored

  • syslog server destination configuration
  • log severity filtering level
  • debug logging state
  • log-triggered trap group settings
