Description: Manages DHCP option parameters for vendor-specific and custom option code configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RAISECOM-DHCP-OPTION-MIB?
RAISECOM-DHCP-OPTION-MIB is a private MIB from Raisecom for managing DHCP option parameters, currently focused on Option 82 sub-options (circuit ID and remote ID) used to identify the physical origin of DHCP requests. It exposes per-port configuration objects for circuit ID and remote ID strings/modes, as well as global option-type and content configuration, including DHCPv6-related option tables. This is a configuration-oriented MIB rather than a hardware/software health monitor, though it does let an administrator confirm which DHCP relay option settings are active on each port. It builds on the standard DHCP Option 82 concept (RFC 3046) with vendor-specific implementation. It is typically deployed on Raisecom access/aggregation switches used in DHCP relay scenarios for subscriber identification. Engineers can download the RAISECOM-DHCP-OPTION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RAISECOM-DHCP-OPTION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Raisecom access/aggregation switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll rcDhcpOption82PortTable entries, indexed by port, to verify rcDhcpOption82CircuitID and rcDhcpOption82RemoteIDString values match the expected per-port identification scheme used by the upstream DHCP server for policy enforcement. Checking rcDhcpOptionGlobalTable's rcDhcpOptionType and rcDhcpOptionContent would confirm global option formatting settings, and a rcDhcpOptionRowStatus not in active state would reveal a misconfigured or disabled option entry preventing correct subscriber tracking.
What Can Be Monitored
- circuit ID per port
- remote ID string/mode per port
- DHCP option type and content
- option row status (active/inactive)
- DHCPv6 global option settings
