Description: Configures VLAN protection policies to restrict unauthorized VLAN access on Raisecom switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RAISECOM-VLANPROTECT-MIB?
RAISECOM-VLANPROTECT-MIB is a vendor-specific Raisecom module that manages VLAN protection groups, a security feature restricting which ports or VLANs are allowed to communicate with each other to prevent unauthorized VLAN access on Raisecom switches. It exposes a configuration table of protection groups keyed by group ID, each associating a VLAN ID with a list of permitted ports, plus a row-status object controlling group creation/activation. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration-state verification rather than hardware health: administrators check rcVlanProtectGroupRowStatus and port-list membership to confirm protection policies are active and correctly scoped, which indirectly protects against misconfiguration-driven traffic leakage or security incidents. It has no explicit dependency beyond standard SNMP SMI/RowStatus conventions used for its table management. It is typically deployed in Raisecom access/aggregation switches in multi-tenant or segmented VLAN environments needing strict isolation. Engineers can download the RAISECOM-VLANPROTECT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RAISECOM-VLANPROTECT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Raisecom switch
- Raisecom access/aggregation device
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll raisecomVlanProtectGroupTable/raisecomVlanProtectGroupEntry, checking raisecomVlanProtectGroupVlanId and raisecomVlanProtectGroupPortlist to verify a given protection group correctly restricts traffic to its intended VLAN and port set. A raisecomVlanProtectGroupRowStatus showing notInService or an unexpected value would reveal that a VLAN protection policy failed to activate, potentially exposing the VLAN to unauthorized access. raisecomVlanProtectConfig would be checked for the overall feature enable/disable state on the device.
What Can Be Monitored
- VLAN protection group status
- protected VLAN ID
- port list membership per group
- protection group row/activation status
- global VLAN protection configuration
