Category: Server Hardware Monitoring

Description: Delivers trap notifications from the NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents supervisor agent covering server management subsystem fault events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PSA-SVAgentsTrap-MIB?

PSA-SVAgentsTrap-MIB is a vendor-specific NEC enterprise MIB, part of the ESMPRO ServerAgent suite, defining SNMP trap notifications from the supervisor agent component that monitors the overall server management subsystem (e.g. baseboard/service-processor-level faults) on NEC PC servers. As with its sibling PSA modules it defines notification/event objects rather than polled data tables. It is explicitly a hardware/software status monitoring MIB at the platform level: its traps flag general server management subsystem faults, which can encompass a range of underlying hardware issues detected by the supervisory management controller. It shares the common NEC ESMPRO enterprise trap variable-binding structure used across the PSA-*Trap-MIB family, including a reference to a management module virtual IP (trapMmbVip). It is typically deployed on NEC Express5800-series servers, reporting supervisory faults into ESMPRO or an SNMP-based NMS. Engineers can download the PSA-SVAgentsTrap-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-SVAgentsTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition (supervisor agent/service-processor fault traps)

Monitoring Examples

The trap varbinds trapEventLevel and trapEventId identify the severity and type of supervisor-agent-detected fault, trapUnitName/trapSerialNo/trapModelNo/trapStepping identify the affected server and its hardware revision, and trapMmbVip identifies the management module through which the fault was reported; an admin would use trapEventLevel to triage incoming alerts and trapSerialNo to pinpoint which physical server requires attention. As with other PSA-*Trap-MIB modules, monitoring here is event/trap-driven rather than via periodic polling of a data table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • server management subsystem fault notifications
  • event severity level
  • affected server identity (name/serial/model/stepping)
  • management module identification
