Category: Server Hardware Monitoring

Description: Provides NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents trap notifications for Windows multipath disk (MPD) driver fault and path events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PSA-WinMpdTrap-MIB?

PSA-WinMpdTrap-MIB is a vendor-specific NEC enterprise MIB, part of the ESMPRO ServerAgent suite, defining SNMP trap notifications from the Windows Multipath Disk (MPD) driver on NEC PC servers running Windows. As with the Linux GDS equivalent, it defines notification/event objects rather than polled tables. It is explicitly a storage hardware fault-monitoring MIB: its traps signal multipath disk driver events such as a failed I/O path or path recovery on Windows-based storage, letting an admin detect loss of storage path redundancy before a full storage outage occurs. It shares the common NEC ESMPRO enterprise trap variable-binding structure used across the PSA-*Trap-MIB family, with PSA-LinGdsTrap-MIB as its Linux-side counterpart. The PSA-WinMpdTrap-MIB MIB is typically deployed on NEC Express5800-series Windows servers using MPIO/MPD multipath storage, reporting into ESMPRO or an SNMP-based NMS.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-WinMpdTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Windows, MPD multipath disk driver (fault/path-recovery traps)

Monitoring Examples

The trap varbinds trapEventLevel and trapEventId identify the severity and type of multipath disk event, while trapUnitName/trapSerialNo/trapModelNo identify the affected server and trapPartitionName/trapPartitionId/trapSuspect identify the affected disk path/partition; an admin receiving such a trap would use trapPartitionId to determine which storage path failed on which server and trapEventLevel to prioritize the response. As with other PSA-*Trap-MIB modules, monitoring here is event/trap-driven rather than via periodic polling of a data table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • multipath disk path fault/event notifications
  • event severity level
  • affected server identity (name/serial/model)
  • affected disk partition identity
