Category: Circuit Emulation, Performance Monitoring

Description: Provides BATM Advanced Communication Circuit Emulation Service statistics including errored frames, jitter, and payload counts.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRVT-STATISTICS-CES-MIB?

PRVT-STATISTICS-CES-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communication (Telco Systems) private MIB that supplies additional Circuit Emulation Service performance statistics not covered by the standard DS1-MIB and SONET-MIB. Each table (prvtDSx1CurrentTable, prvtSectionCurrentTable, prvtLineCurrentTable, prvtPathCurrentTable, prvtVtCurrentTable, and their interval/far-end counterparts) uses AUGMENTS against the corresponding standard MIB entry, adding vendor-specific counters such as background block errors, severely-errored/errored seconds, path/pointer justification counts, and, for SONET lines, laser bias current and received/transmitted optical power. Far-end variants report the equivalent statistics as signaled from the remote end of a DS1 or SONET/SDH line or path. Because it extends rather than replaces the IETF DS1/SONET MIBs, it is deployed alongside them on BATM/Telco Systems Circuit Emulation Service platforms carrying TDM traffic over packet networks, for PRVT-STATISTICS-CES-MIB MIB Browser based optical-transmitter health and TDM signal-quality diagnostics.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-STATISTICS-CES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BATM Advanced Communications / Telco Systems Circuit Emulation Service platforms

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls prvtLineCurrentLBCs (Laser Bias Current) and prvtLineCurrentOPRs (Optical Power Received) for a SONET line entry to check optical transmitter/receiver health, cross-referencing prvtDSx1CurrentBBEs for the paired DS1 circuit; a Laser Bias Current trending upward alongside falling Optical Power Received would indicate an aging or failing optical transceiver ahead of a hard failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1 background block error/severely-errored-second counts
  • SONET section/line/path errored-second counters
  • laser bias current and optical power received/transmitted
  • pointer justification generated/detected counts
  • far-end line/path error statistics
  • 24-hour total error counters
