Category: Power Management

Description: Provides updated UPS monitoring objects for Bharti Telesoft power systems with enhanced battery and load measurement variables.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRETUPS-MIB-new?

PRETUPS-MIB-new is a proprietary Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) monitoring module associated with Bharti Telesoft's PRETUPS power system product line, representing an updated/enhanced version of the base PRETUPS MIB. Rather than exposing simple scalar UPS values, it is structured around a generic alarm/notification model, with objects like alarmType, alarmSeverity, alarmClass, alarmSpecificProblem, and problableCause describing fault conditions raised by the managed power equipment. This makes the MIB centrally about hardware health and fault monitoring: it is used to detect power-related failures such as battery faults, load anomalies, and other alarm conditions on the UPS unit, surfaced through SNMP traps/notifications (pretupsnotification, pretupsnotification1). It appears to be a self-contained enterprise MIB with its own alarm taxonomy (subAgent, alarmId, alarmClass) rather than reusing the standard UPS-MIB (RFC 1628), though the concepts parallel that standard. It is typically deployed in telecom central office or base station power installations where PRETUPS UPS units protect critical equipment and alarms must be relayed to a network management system. Engineers can download the PRETUPS-MIB-new file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRETUPS-MIB-new. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Bharti Telesoft PRETUPS uninterruptible power supply

Monitoring Examples

An operator would subscribe to pretupsnotification/pretupsnotification1 traps and inspect their bound alarmType, alarmSeverity, alarmClass, and problableCause objects to determine the nature of a reported alarm, using alarmId to correlate repeated or cleared alarms and alarmSpecificProblem for finer detail. A rising alarmSeverity value combined with a battery- or load-related problableCause would indicate an impending power failure requiring dispatch of a technician.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active alarm type and class
  • alarm severity level
  • probable cause of alarm
  • specific problem code
  • alarm identifier for correlation/clearing
