Description: Manages West Mountain Radio RMCU remote control and monitoring unit power and status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RMCU?

RMCU is a vendor MIB for West Mountain Radio's Remote Meter/Control Unit, closely associated with the RIGrunner 4005i power distribution product used by amateur radio and remote-site operators. It exposes device identity (name, firmware version, build date) and a series of analog input channels with configurable names and live values, used to monitor voltage, current, or other analog sensor readings from the power distribution unit. Its core monitoring value is hardware status: tracking supply voltage/current on each analog channel to catch undervoltage, overcurrent, or sensor-name/channel mapping issues in a remote power system. It is a small, self-contained enterprise MIB without notable dependencies on other standard MIBs. It is typically deployed at remote radio sites or shacks where the RIGrunner unit distributes and monitors DC power to radio equipment. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RMCU file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RMCU. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • West Mountain Radio RMCU / RIGrunner 4005i power distribution unit

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll analog1val through analog5val (and beyond) alongside their corresponding analog1name/analog2name labels to read live voltage or current measurements from each RIGrunner power channel. Checking build-date and version confirms the firmware level of the RMCU unit, while a sustained drop in an analogNval reading (e.g., channel labeled 'Battery Voltage') would indicate a failing power supply or battery under load at a remote radio site.

What Can Be Monitored

  • analog channel voltage/current values
  • channel names/labels
  • firmware version
  • build date
