Description: Manages VLAN creation, port membership, and subscriber VLAN binding on Paradyne Networks DSL access equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-VLAN-MIB?

PDN-VLAN-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB module for Paradyne Networks DSL access equipment, covering VLAN configuration on the device. It exposes objects for VLAN creation, port membership, subscriber VLAN binding, and in-band management VLAN identification. Its primary value for monitoring is verifying the configuration state of VLAN-based network segmentation rather than hardware health, though the notification group can alert on VLAN-related fault conditions on the device. The module defines its own conformance and compliance groups and does not appear to depend heavily on other standard MIBs beyond the base SNMP framework. It is typically deployed in DSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) environments where operators need to manage VLAN-tagged subscriber traffic separation. Engineers can download the PDN-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne Networks DSL access multiplexer (DSLAM)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll pdnVlanReservedBlockStart to determine the range of VLAN IDs reserved for internal use, and check pdnVlanInbandMgmtVlanId or pdnVlanInbandMgmtVlanId2 to confirm which VLAN carries management traffic to the DSLAM. If the in-band management VLAN ID unexpectedly changes or does not match provisioning records, it could indicate a misconfiguration that would cut off remote management access. The pdnVlanNotifications group could also be watched for traps signaling VLAN state changes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • reserved VLAN ID block
  • in-band management VLAN ID
  • VLAN port membership
  • VLAN notifications/traps
