pdnVlanReservedBlockStart

Module: PDN-VLAN-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-VLAN-MIB::pdnVlanReservedBlockStart

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.46.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: VlanIndex

Access: read-write

Description: This object defines the starting VLAN for a sequential block of VLANS that are to be reserved for internal use. The actual size of the block reserved is not specified as it could be implementation specific. The size of the actual block being reserved should be clearly specified in the SNMP Operational Specification for the particular implementaion.

What is pdnVlanReservedBlockStart?

This object defines the first VLAN ID in a contiguous block of VLANs the device reserves for its own internal use, with the size of that reserved block left to the specific implementation rather than fixed by this MIB. An administrator needs to know this value so they avoid assigning customer or user VLANs that collide with the device's internally reserved range. For example, if this object returns 4000, the admin should treat VLAN IDs starting at 4000 (and some implementation-defined number above it) as off-limits for manual VLAN assignment.
