Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB?
PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB is a Paradyne-specific extension to the standard MIB-II system group, tailored for the Multi-Port Ethernet (MPE) module used in Paradyne access and aggregation equipment. It exposes the same class of basic identification and status data as RFC 1213's system group, but scoped to each MPE module instance, including descriptors, object identifiers, contact and location strings, and supported services. Its main monitoring value is device-level health and identity tracking: administrators use it to confirm that a module is up (via a system uptime counter), correctly identified by descriptor and object ID, and configured with accurate contact/location/name information for inventory and fault-management purposes. It is built directly on the structure of the standard MIB-II system group (RFC 1213/1907), effectively duplicating it in a vendor-specific subtree for per-module scoping. It is typically deployed in legacy Paradyne/Zhone multi-port Ethernet access devices managed by NMS platforms performing basic reachability and inventory polling. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Paradyne Multi-Port Ethernet (MPE) module
- Paradyne/Zhone access/aggregation equipment
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the mpeSystemsTable, walking mpeSystemsEntry rows to retrieve mpeSysDescr, mpeSysObjectID, and mpeSysUpTime for each Multi-Port Ethernet module in the chassis. A sudden reset of mpeSysUpTime to a low value would indicate the module rebooted unexpectedly, while a mismatch in mpeSysServices could reveal a misconfigured module. mpeSysContact, mpeSysName, and mpeSysLocation are typically checked during inventory audits to ensure asset records are current.
What Can Be Monitored
- module uptime
- system descriptor/object ID
- system contact and location strings
- system name
- supported services bitmask
- module reboot detection
