Category: DSL and Broadband

Description: Manages PPP Multilink Protocol (MP) bundle configuration, member link status, and fragmentation settings on Paradyne devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-PPP-ML-MIB?

PDN-PPP-ML-MIB is a Paradyne Networks proprietary MIB (extending PDN-HEADER-MIB) implementing Multilink PPP (RFC 1990) bundle management. Its bundle-configuration table, keyed by ifIndex, records row status, Maximum Received Reconstructed Unit (MRRU), Short-Sequence-Number-Header-Format (SSNHF) flag, and fragment size, a bundle-mapping table associates member links to their parent bundle, and a bundle-status table reports current state, negotiated local-to-remote/remote-to-local MRRU and SSNHF, and endpoint-discriminator class/address in both directions. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm negotiated MRRU and endpoint-discriminator matching when a Multilink PPP bundle fails to form correctly. It is deployed on Paradyne Networks routers using Multilink PPP. Engineers can download the PDN-PPP-ML-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-PPP-ML-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne Networks routers (Multilink PPP)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks pdnPppMlBundleStatusLocalToRemoteMRRU against the remote side's negotiated value to diagnose a Multilink PPP bundle that isn't combining member links as expected on a Paradyne router.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Multilink PPP bundle negotiation and member-link status
