mpeSysObjectID
Module: PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB
OID (symbolic): PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB::mpeSysObjectID
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.4.1.1.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OBJECT IDENTIFIER
Access: read-only
Description: The vendor's authoritative identification of the network management subsystem contained in the entity. This value is allocated within the SMI enterprises subtree (1.3.6.1.4.1) and provides an easy and unambiguous means for determining `what kind of box' is being managed. For example, if vendor `Flintstones, Inc.' was assigned the subtree 1.3.6.1.4.1.4242, it could assign the identifier 1.3.6.1.4.1.4242.1.1 to its `Fred Router'.
What is mpeSysObjectID?
This read-only OID uniquely identifies the vendor and specific product model of the managed entity, allocated from the enterprise numbers subtree at 1.3.6.1.4.1. Management systems use this value to automatically recognize what kind of device they are talking to and load the correct profile, rather than relying on the free-text mpeSysDescr. For example, just as the MIB's own illustration assigns 1.3.6.1.4.1.4242.1.1 to a fictitious "Fred Router," Paradyne assigns a distinct OID under its own enterprise branch to identify this specific MPE product.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.4.1.1.1.1.2 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB::mpeSysObjectID
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.4.1.1.1.1.2.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PDN-MPE-MIB2-MIB::mpeSysObjectID.1
