Category: IP Services
Description: Handles inet address-family objects and IP address assignment for interfaces on Paradyne xDSL access equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PDN-INET-MIB?
PDN-INET-MIB is a Paradyne (a manufacturer of xDSL access and carrier-grade broadband equipment) enterprise MIB that manages Internet Protocol addressing and associated management services on xDSL access devices. It exposes configuration-oriented data: IP address and subnet assignment for the management interface, plus TCP port configuration for Telnet and FTP server access to the device. Its monitoring value is largely operational/administrative rather than hardware health -- it lets an operator confirm the management IP is correctly bound, verify how many IP subnets are provisioned versus the device's maximum, and validate that remote-access services (Telnet, FTP control/data) are reachable on the expected ports. It builds on standard Internet-address textual conventions (InetAddress/InetAddressType-style typing) common to IETF-derived enterprise MIBs. It is typically deployed by DSL access network operators for PDN-INET-MIB SNMP monitoring of racks of Paradyne DSLAMs or access concentrators, enabling remote configuration and inventory verification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-INET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Paradyne xDSL access/DSLAM equipment
- carrier broadband access concentrators
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll pdnInetIpAddressTable (via pdnInetIpAddressTableEntry rows keyed on pdnInetIpAddress and pdnInetIpSubnetMask) to confirm the management interface's current IP and mask match provisioning records, and compare pdnInetIpAddressTableCurrentIpSubnets against pdnInetIpAddressTableMaxIpSubnets to see if the device is near its subnet capacity limit. Reading pdnInetTelnetServerPort and pdnInetFtpServerControlPort/pdnInetFtpServerDataPort confirms whether remote-access services have been moved off default ports, which would explain a failed automated login. An unexpected pdnInetIpRowStatus value (e.g. notReady) on a row flags an incomplete or failed IP provisioning attempt.
What Can Be Monitored
- management IP address assignment
- IP subnet count vs. maximum
- Telnet server port
- FTP control/data server ports
- IP address row provisioning status
